Primely positioned on a low headland in Koh Samui’s less-touristy southwestern corner, The View has its name for good reason. From numerous vantage points, guests can gaze down at sandy beaches to either side or across the boat-speckled ocean towards protected islands where only seafaring folk live.

Tiered lawns cascade toward those quiet beaches, and not far inland begin waterfall hikes. Even so, you may elect to stay put. The villa’s 16-metre infinity pool and attached jacuzzi are hard to resist, as are its gym, yoga deck and massage gazebo, plus a ping pong table and hammock.

Inside awaits a spacious dining area, and its fully-fitted, resort-style kitchen. Opposite is the living room, boasting an iMac whose many movies can be streamed on three pull-down projector screens around the grounds – including ones on poolside and beachfront terraces, ideally positioned for crimson sunsets. Fancy some food with your film? A private chef accompanies The View, part of a small staff team. Continental breakfasts are complimentary, and he’ll prepare other meals – Thai or international – on request.

Airy and glassy, the three-storey main villa also includes a pair of massive sleeping quarters. One features an outdoor rain shower, and the other a romantic al fresco tub. Both front onto wonderful sea-facing teak terraces. Four more ensuite bedrooms, along with a six-bunk kids’ room, occupy private pavilions around the tropical gardens and feature wrap-around balconies. Large flatscreen satellite TVs and air-conditioning also come as standard.
