Partial to a game of tennis? The majestic Hacienda Magica is the only beachside Riviera Maya villa to boast a full-sized tennis court. Not only that, but the same facility comes with seating, surround sound and night lighting, enabling evening tournaments. To boost your chances, it might be best to first pause beside a beautiful mural of the Mayan serpent god Kukulkan and pray for blessings. Other outdoor perks here include oceanside putting greens, a seaside gym and kayaks and stand-up paddleboards to use off Fatima Bay’s adjacent white sand.

The villa’s layout mimics old-style haciendas – various galleried wings framing a courtyard lit by lanterns at night, the perfect spot for group meals under the stars. Typifying its warm, welcoming feel, the charming communal spaces include a tremendous kitchen dotted with Talavera tiles and a picture-lined living room and cocktail bar. Ensuite and enormous, the 14 bedrooms include twin options and two interconnected bedrooms in a separate casita to suit young families. Housekeepers attend and, if you’d rather not cook, we can provide a flexible chef who’ll also sort grocery shopping.

Accompanying those putting greens, Puerto Aventuras offers a full golf course, as well as international restaurants and sport-fishing charters. Party-minded Playa Del Carmen is 15 minutes drive north, while you can venture southwards for Playa Akumal and Tulum’s Mayan ruins.

Should you need even more space for a special event, you can also book neighbouring Hacienda Del Mar and Hacienda Corazon.
