Best time to go
During spring: March and April are peak season months in Barbados, so expect crowds in the tourist hot spots. From April-June there is very little chance of encountering bad weather, and the temperatures sit at around 75°F (23°C).
During summer: the Trade Winds keep the temperatures from climbing too high during the summer, but expect the odd rain shower during the day. From June onwards the temperature sits at around 75-85°F (23-29°C). This is festival time, so get your dancing shoes on.
During autumn: during October and November, the rainfall and humidity go up, but the crowds go down. This is the best time for diving and swimming in the sea, with water temperatures of around 84-95°F (28-35°C).
During winter: don’t be fooled by the word ‘winter’. This is actually peak season in Barbados, with balmy temperatures in the 80s°F or mid-20s°C and plenty of sunshine. There are plenty of festivals to keep you dancing, or discover some regional specialities in the many food and drink events held during the winter.
How to get there
Make the journey as memorable as the arrival. Your dedicated concierge can arrange transportation from the closest airport to your Barbados villa.
By plane
Eight miles east of Bridgetown is Sir Grantley Adams International Airport, where your dedicated concierge will make sure you’re treated like a VIP from the moment you touch down. They’ll also arrange private transfers in executive vehicles so you can arrive at your villa in Barbados in style.
By private jet
Sir Grantley Adams International Airport is also the landing location for private jets, if that’s how you’re planning to travel. Some of our exclusive villas in Barbados do have helicopter landing areas. Your dedicated concierge can arrange for an island helicopter transfer so you can start your holiday a little sooner.
By boat
Some of our secluded Barbados villas have their own jetties and can also be reached by boat. What a fabulous way to start your Barbados holiday of a lifetime.
Local Tips
- Barbados is a very lively destination in terms of local festivals and events. Be sure to check out the calendar during your stay, especially during the autumn and winter months.
- Unlike some other Caribbean destinations, tap water is usually drinkable here in Barbados.
- When you are on the beach beware of manchineel trees (clearly marked with a red band around the trunk) - when it's raining do not take shelter under them (touching them causes blisters) and don't eat the fruit: it’s highly toxic.
- You’re only 13° from the Equator here, so the sun can be very strong. Stay hydrated and don’t forget your sunscreen to prevent sunburn.
