Beach-house chic awaits at Hualalai Resort - Palm Villa 130A, one of the Hualālai Resort’s biggest private homes. Interspersed with a turquoise theme, pale hues dominate across its focal, first-floor ‘great room’: springy rattan chairs around a chunky dining table, sand-coloured sofas framing the TV and a blend of pine and mottled marble counters in the superbly-equipped kitchen. Aiding the airy feel are lofty ceilings and large picture windows.

These face onto one of the resort’s golf courses, as does an adjacent balcony on which you can dine amid tremendous sunsets. There’s also a barbecue deck at the rear. The downstairs master suite, meanwhile, opens onto its very own veranda, next to which is yet another one for everyone; both have lounger chairs. Another of the ensuite bedrooms has its own balcony, and the last offers two twin beds with children in mind. Kids should also relish playing on the grass lawn; tropical gardens around this allow for privacy.

Accessible in fun style, using two allocated golf buggies, the resort’s facilities include a swimming pool just opposite, and the Hualālai Sports Club’s own 25-metre pool, gym and spa. Then there’s the sumptuous sandy beach, the kids’ club and the Jack Nicklaus-designed championship golf course; not to mention watersports like canoeing and paddle boarding, eight tennis courts and restaurants ranging from Mediterranean-style to a seaside poke grill. We love staying in the Villas at Hualalai. Great accommodations for our family of 5 and a fun 2 minute ride to the resort. The home was comfortable and upscale in it's furnishings, lighting and technology. We have stayed here on previous visits to the Big Island and look forward to returning!
