Jade is, quite simply, divine. This elegant eight-bedroomed villa in the exclusive neighbourhood of Marigot is one of the finest villas on the island of St Barts. Offering sumptuous surroundings and every extra you can imagine, it's a secluded hideaway for up to 16 guests who want peace, tranquillity, and superb views. From the moment you cross the small wooden bridge over a koi pond filled with water lilies, you know you're somewhere special.

St Barts blends two very distinctive halves to create a haven in the Caribbean Sea. Its European French roots can be seen (and heard) everywhere. Add to this a vibrant Afro-Caribbean partnership, and you have this tiny yet energetic island. You’ll regularly hear music and dancing coming from every street. The cuisine is Creole/French fusion, with added fire thanks to St Barts’ love of spices and hot peppers. From historic forts to deserted pristine beaches, St Barts packs in everything you want in a Caribbean destination.

Jade is a tribute to Asian culture and takes its design cues from this rich heritage. Two 17th-century Samurai soldiers dressed in full armour guard your retreat. The great room is the heart of the villa, providing a gloriously extravagant Bali-inspired space that opens onto a huge terrace. Fourteen black Moooi lamps hang from the vaulted ceiling. A professional-standard kitchen has everything your chef needs to create Creole culinary masterpieces, served either al fresco or in the covered dining area. The bedrooms are divided across the multiple layers of the villa. The main pavilion has a family wing with two master bedrooms with king-size beds and two children’s bedrooms with queen-size beds and a bright pink colour scheme. The remaining four bedrooms are in private pavilions and have king-size beds, stunning ensuite bathrooms, dressing rooms and intimate seating areas.

Jade also has a cinema room for those evenings in, as well as a Hammam, a well-stocked wine cellar, and a fitness room. Outside, the heated pool seems to blend seamlessly into the ocean, while a jacuzzi is an ideal spot for a flute of champagne under the stars. An ajoupa is an excellent shady spot for snoozing, or you can stroll down to the beach and let your toes sink into the warm sand. What could be better as the sun sinks below the horizon?
