A wine-lover's paradise, La Maccinaia sits amongst rolling vineyards and fine wineries and is a home where traditional splendour meets modern amenities.

Located in the very heart of the Chianti region, La Maccinaia lies 30 minutes from both Gaiole and Castelnuovo Berardenga and is only 30 minutes from Siena and 80 minutes from the airport. All around are delightful Tuscan villages and several renowned wineries. The villa itself forms part of a wine-producing estate and so you can arrange a visit to the glorious cellars. For all your needs, there's an English-speaking caretaker who lives in their own apartment with a separate entrance.

The villa is a sublime example of Tuscan historic beauty. Tessellated, 17th-century stone provides a stunning exterior: a contrast to the emerald lawns at its feet. Inside, the space is composed of gleaming white walls, cotto floors and gorgeous pale wood beams with original features and delightful antiques. In the living room, sumptuously soft sofas sit around a magnificent working fireplace. A stately study and boutique library provides a gloriously tranquil nook. A more informal sitting area boasts a large flatscreen satellite TV with a corner sofa and dramatic striped wallpaper that echoes the lines of the traditional beams.

A formal dining room is a place of light and serenity, with low hanging stylish lamps and large windows that open to the gardens. The kitchen is especially splendid: a sleek design combines brushed aluminium appliances with clever folding cupboards and a state-of-the-art range beneath a beautiful brick ceiling.

The five bedrooms in the main villa are bright and elegant spaces filled with wonderful modern art and charming vintage furnishings. The master suite boasts a large ensuite bathroom with a shower and deep soaking tub. There are a further three double suites and a wonderful room with a mezzanine - which sleeps four - perfect for a family or group of teens. Two further bedrooms can be found in a separate guesthouse: one double bedroom and one twin bedroom.

Outside are lovely patios and chairs sitting upon the shining lawns that flow down into the valley. A sparkling pool is surrounded by panoramic views with a glorious lounger-filled deck to enjoy them from. A charming cottage-like building is a wonderful idyll containing all you need for making the most of the outdoors: a bathroom with a shower, a built-in BBQ and an enclosed veranda which makes for a superb al fresco dining space. On every side, the breathtaking Tuscan countryside stretches out: a land of silvery olive groves and ancient vines that holds you at its very heart.
