Brought back to life after being forgotten for half a century, this exquisite Tuscan farmhouse is a dream come true. With seven bedrooms and welcoming up to 14 guests, it tastefully blends original medieval features with contemporary interiors that have been finished to the highest standards. Every detail is meticulously executed, harmonising old and new in a perfect blend of styles. Podere Agata is just a short drive from the Tuscan city of Siena and is surrounded by breathtaking views of the rolling, golden countryside.

Surrounded by gorgeous Tuscan villages, such as Sinalunga, Montepulciano and Pienza, there's plenty to do and see in the local area. An hour's drive away, golden stone and terracotta tiles make Siena a colourful, charming city proud of its medieval heritage. UNESCO has designated the centre of this enchanting city as a World Heritage Site, and around every cobbled corner, you'll discover a new architectural marvel. The city is famous for its twice-yearly horse race, gourmet dining and a wealth of historic and cultural attractions.

From the moment you enter the elegant hall, you know that Podere Agata is special. Every element of it typifies villas in Tuscany, from the cool tiled floors and honey-coloured stone to the original arches and architectural nuances. The living area is relaxed and encourages guests to mingle and chat while admiring the ever-changing views. The kitchen incorporates old-world charm with contemporary convenience, with every appliance a discerning chef could wish for. The dining room is cosy and intimate, or guests can make use of the al fresco dining for more informal family meals.

The farmhouse’s former stables have been lovingly converted into the villa’s seven bedrooms. These are tranquil spaces that have been mindfully decorated to create serene retreats. Each room has a comfortable double bed and ensuite bathroom with rolltop soak tubs and Italian marble accessorised with fine-quality fixtures. The bedrooms all have their own boutique character and stunning views of the countryside. Downstairs from the bedrooms is the villa’s logia, an open-air living space with a cosy fireplace for those lazy evenings.

Outside, a manicured garden and a sparkling infinity pool dominate the space, and additional extras include a 300-year-old pizza oven and outdoor cooking area. Your dedicated concierge can arrange for private cooking lessons where you can learn to make authentic Tuscan pizza, accompanied by some of the region’s best wines.     HOUSE RULES

    • No parties or events are allowed unless otherwise agreed.
    • Always keep the gate closed. If left open, wild animals (foxes, wild boars, deer) may enter and damage the garden.
    • Do not leave any items on the grass. Sprinklers are automatic and operate during the night and early morning.
    • Use the toilet only for human waste. The sewage system is biological and cannot process anything else.
    • Please keep showers short. The showers tend to overflow easily, and shorter showers are also better for the environment.
    • Large knives must be washed by hand.
    • Waste is collected at the bottom of the hill. At the end of our road, turn right, then take the first dirt road on the right and drive about 100 meters downhill. Communal bins are located there. Avoid going at night, as it is very dark.

    • The house operates almost entirely off-grid, using solar energy and water from a private well. Tap water is drinkable. You can also refill glass bottles with sparkling water in the village of Trequanda (5 cents per litre) at the small cabin in the parking area.

    • No parties or events are permitted at the villa, unless agreed with the team in advance.
    • The swimming pool is not heated and will be closed from mid-October until mid-April/May.
