Nestled in the foothills of the Vorno Valley, Villa Benso is an elegant Tuscan farmhouse that boasts a fascinating history, spacious grounds and a beautifully furnished interior. Once owned by the renowned engineer Felice Matteucci and the site of the invention of one of the first combustion engines, this charming seven-bedroom villa can comfortably cater for 14 guests.

Located just a few kilometres from the atmospheric provincial city of Lucca and within easy reach of Renaissance Florence, the famous sightseeing destination of Pisa and sensational Siena, it allows guests to explore some of Tuscany's most iconic holiday hotspots. Closer by, guests can take advantage of the area's excellent local amenities. From horse-riding centres and thermal baths to golf clubs and historical villas, there's more than enough to keep you busy. Of course, there's also plenty of hiking and cycling to be done along Vorno's mountain trails and quiet country roads.

Equipped with seven bedrooms, all of which benefit from elegant ensuite bathrooms, the villa combines authentic, rustic charm with a wide range of modern features, fittings and appliances. The region's traditional wooden beams and tiled flooring are complemented by a bright and vivid colour palette and stately furniture. An expansive living room with comfortable sofas and a large TV allows for group movie nights, while the leisure room boasts an excellent board game collection. The Tuscan farmhouse kitchen provides for all your culinary needs, and a fully-equipped fitness room ensures you can burn off any excess energy.

Outside, the spacious grounds encompass a swimming pool and acres of parkland that demand to be explored. Several sun loungers encourage lazy days beneath the Italian sun, and the outdoor dining area, complete with barbeque, is ideally suited to unforgettable al fresco meals. A striking, jasmine-covered gazebo is the perfect spot to bury your nose in a book and enjoy a little ‘me time’.
