Charming Villa Gentilumo sits on three private acres and is just a short walk from the tempting bakeries and cafés of the quaint village of Orentano. Up to six guests can feel comfortingly tucked away in the sun-kissed Tuscan countryside while being in easy reach of fantastic local restaurants and the region's most popular destinations, including Lucca and Pisa.

A pleasant half-hour drive through vineyards and olive groves brings you to the Medieval city of Lucca. Home to the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, which was once the site of a gladiatorial amphitheatre, it's steeped in history and incredible artefacts. Boutiques, cafés and restaurants also line the narrow streets for refreshments and retail therapy as you explore the city. With Pisa just over a 35-minute drive away, ask your concierge to organise a tour of the city and visit its famous leaning tower. Stop at the pretty hilltop village of San Miniato on your way back, making your way up to its castle to take in a classic Tuscan view.

Retire to one of the chic bedrooms for a peaceful sleep. The master suite boasts a floaty four-poster double bed, the second guest room features a double bed, and two twin beds are in the third bedroom. Each bedroom benefits from a boutique-style ensuite and bucolic views.

Surrounded by picturesque rolling fields, the villa's grounds are a joy to socialise in. Swim in the large private pool, then soak up the sun on one of the poolside loungers.     • There is a wood oven and the property manager will be happy to help you with it (please note that it takes 4 hours to take the oven to the required temperature). For security reasons please avoid managing it by yourself.
