Best time to go
During spring: lovely warm days yet quieter beaches makes spring a brilliant time for a Costa del Sol vacation. As well as enjoying your villa’s deluxe amenities, spring is ideal for touring the region’s culture-packed cities and quaint mountain towns. While you might experience a few rainy days, May tends to be dry and sunny, making laidback beach days possible too.
During summer: if endless sunshine and zero rain are what you’re seeking, take a Costa del Sol rental villa in the summer months. Temperatures sit at around 28℃ (82℉) during the day, while the evenings are beautifully balmy. Malaga also plays host to the Starlite Festival in late July, a must for music aficionados, and the lively Malaga Feria (a huge street fair featuring flamenco dancers and traditional Spanish costumes) in August.
During autumn: temperatures stay well into the 20s℃ (high 60s℉) right up until October, making an autumn beach escape a great option. The sea also stays wonderfully warm, so daily swims are a pleasure. November is the rainiest month, although it’s very rare to experience full days of showers. Pack a raincoat, or use those greyer days to laze around your luxurious Costa del Sol rental villa.
During winter: thanks to Costa del Sol’s Mediterranean climate, winter is usually very mild, and temperatures rarely drop below 12℃. It’s a good season to explore the area’s coastal cities or try a few outdoor activities, such as golfing, caving, or horse trekking in the nearby mountains.
How to get there
Make the journey as memorable as the arrival. Your dedicated concierge can arrange transportation from the closest airport to your Costa del Sol villa.
By plane
Flying to Malaga International Airport is the easiest way to reach Costa de Sol, whether you’re on a charter flight or private jet. The airport sits south of the city and is just a short hop down the motorway from the major seaside resorts. Your dedicated concierge can arrange a VIP transfer straight to your villa rental.
By car
Exploring Costa del Sol by car is simple thanks to the region’s excellent roads and readily available car hire. Pick up your rental from the airport or arrange drop-off as part of your villa stay. Driving gives you access to numerous secluded spots, from charming Andalucian villages tucked away in the mountains to dreamy deserted coves.
By boat
Malaga is a highlight of many Mediterranean cruises, meaning you could incorporate a cruise into your Costa del Sol holiday agenda. There are several yachting harbours along the coast too, including a large marina in Marbella. Why not ask your concierge about organising a private boat charter?
Local tips
- Costa del Sol, nicknamed the ‘Sun Coast,’ enjoys more than 325 days of sunshine each year. You can plan a visit during all four seasons and still enjoy fabulous weather.
- Travel during August to experience the Feria de Agosto, an open-air festival running for ten days where you can enjoy delicious food, dancing, and thrilling fairground rides.
- Renting a car via your dedicated concierge is highly recommended in order to fully explore Costa del Sol, as the region is home to many secret beaches, sleepy villages, and hidden sites that cannot be reached easily by foot or public transport.
