St Barts is renowned for its easy-going lifestyle, eclectic blend of French and Afro-Caribbean culture, and some seriously spicy Creole food. It's one of the most densely forested of the Caribbean islands, giving you a fantastic opportunity to spend a day away from the soft sand of the beaches and explore the interior. After a day's hiking, it's time to seek out one of the many fish restaurants that line the harbours and town streets to try some authentic local dishes. In season, the lobster is a rival for any New England lobster pot, while the spices and flavours of Creole cuisine are accompanied by the kick of a Ti'punch, the island's signature rum cocktail.

Angel Rock villa blends warm caramel colours with simple whitewashed rooms and stone walls that balance the manmade design motifs. The open-plan design allows the Trade Winds to keep the interior cool. The fully fitted kitchen is ideal for culinary adventures using local ingredients, while the results can be served in the al fresco dining area for a meal under the stars. The two bedrooms have ocean views. Both have king-size beds and ensuite bathrooms. The bedrooms are split between the two levels, with one accessing the terrace while the other opens onto its own private patio.

The pool continues the caramel theme with a striking tiled pattern complemented by the rich teak sun loungers and patio furniture. But it's those views that really steal the show, giving you an uninterrupted vista of the ocean dotted with tiny uninhabited outcrops. Villa Angel Rock is a perfect combination of modernism, balanced with that quintessentially laid-back St Barts spirit.
