Pineapple House is inspired by Oliver Messel: in 1956, the distinguished British stage designer arrived in Barbados and soon carved a niche by converting ordinary homes into theatrical “wonderlands” full of columns, arches and other elaborate details. Along with plenty of those, you’ll quickly notice the villa’s sensational, ridge-top views – overlooking much of the Tryall Club resort’s championship golf course, and leagues of Caribbean Sea.

Fine vistas are ever-present across the villa’s litany of outdoor spaces – spacious verandas, the deep heated pool, a gazebo, covered lounge and dining areas, lawns on which children can play and mature English gardens featuring a waterfall that’s perfect for anyone into meditation.

You get stylish interiors, too – pastel hues mixed with rich mahogany. One lounge has its own bar; the dining room is classy and intimate. Pineapple House’s five bedrooms, meanwhile, are split across its two floors; four boast balconies or private terraces plus smart TVs, and the last contains twin beds.

The Tryall Club’s gym, spa and tennis courts are within ambling distance, with that 18-hole course and the sandy, serviced beach a short hop in your provided golf buggy. Alternatively, just kick back, order another ‘Pineapple Painkiller’ (the house drink) and rely on your friendly staff – gardeners, housekeepers, a butler and chef Ainsley, whose certification by the world-renowned Culinary Institute of America explains some truly exceptional cooking.
