Built in 1793, Rue Monsieur's lofty proportions and intricate mouldings have been enchanting its occupants ever since. Here you’ll find splendid furniture, textured wallpaper and luscious pigments, not to mention exquisite oils and shelves of literature. Nancy Mitford lived on this street, as did Cole Porter – and you’ll soon see why he wrote ‘I love Paris’. You’re close to the gorgeous shops of Sevres Babylones to the designer delights of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, and exactly halfway between the Jardins du Luxembourg and Jardins des Tuileries – a loveable location indeed.

Much of the art and furniture in Rue Monsieur has been in the homeowner's family for generations, and there’s a particular decadence to the conker-brown glow of hand-polished wood against the rich, daffodil-yellow walls. There’s a spacious eat-in kitchen, a dining room with ornate chandeliers and gilt edges, and two panelled bathrooms that are subtly Art Deco. And while the study transforms into a neat single bedroom, it’s the master bedroom – papered in ruby claret, and hung with a spectacular seascape – that we think you’ll prefer in the still of the night.

    • One loveable dog lives at this home. He won't be around during your stay, but this home may not be suitable for people with allergies.
    • This home doesn't have air-conditioning, so ask us if you'd like to have fans for your stay.
    • There is no television on this home.
    • This home is on the first floor and there is no external elevator.
    • This home doesn't have a tumble dryer.
    • Please note that the heating will be on only between mid-October and May, in line with ecological and environmental practices aimed at limiting energy consumption and reducing our carbon footprint.
    • They will be scaffolding on the interior and exterior courtyard of the building. Because of that , the shutters can't be fully open so the room can be dark in the second bedroom. Construction will take place until May 2025. In France every 25 years - they put up scaffolding to restore old buildings. These are up for some period of time, but rarely cause any disturbance.
