Imagine a Moorish castle in the middle of the Mexican jungle, and you have the truly remarkable Villa Riad Ambre et Epices. This 16-bedroom masterpiece welcomes up to 40 guests, making it ideal for a large family celebration. The villa is a former boutique hotel but has now been divided into two adjacent villas, interlinked by walkways and tastefully manicured gardens.

Just 15 minutes away from the villa is one of the region’s best beaches, and a short walk from the courtyards and infinity pool of the villa is Tulum town centre. This ancient town has been at the heart of Mexican culture for hundreds of years and is home to a pre-Columbian Mayan walled city. If you're fascinated by ancient civilisations, Tulum is the place to be. The ruins sit on the clifftops on the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula and are a UNESCO World Heritage site. You'll see reminders of the Mayan culture everywhere, even in the modern patterns of the locally produced textiles. After a day touring the ruins, you'll be glad to note that Tulum is also home to some of the region's best restaurants serving local delicacies such as Panuchos and succulent Cochinita Pibil.

The key to Villa Riad Ambre et Epices' attraction is a combination of exquisite Moorish design motifs and open spaces connecting the living areas. Courtyards surprise and delight, offering little private oases of tranquillity. Indoor-outdoor living principles are key to the layout, and you'll find a large dining area on the patio next to the pool. Large floor cushions are dotted around, inviting guests to recline and relax while the staff take care of every little detail. Bedrooms are divided between the two villas, with eight queen-size beds in one (six of which can be converted into two twins if required), and seven king-size suites (two of which can be converted into two twins if required) and one large family suite with two single beds and one king-size bed in the second villa. All have ensuite facilities and wifi access.

Outside areas include a large pool and jacuzzi - ideal for leisurely days at home enjoying the fabulous climate. A spacious al fresco dining area allows you to enjoy an authentic Mexican meal under the stars. To make things even more relaxing, your staff include a concierge, villa manager, butler, housekeeping, gardener and security guard. A personal chef is also available, and a spa service can be booked for the ultimate indulgence.
