Best time to go

  • During spring: early spring brings perfect skiing conditions, with clear blue skies and stable snow that provides outstanding runs and days of family fun. As the temperatures start to climb later on in spring, you’ll see the first wildflowers blooming and the hiking trails opening up. Average spring temperatures are around 5°C (41°F) in the early months, rising to around 17°C (62°F) in May.

  • During summer: while things can still be a little chilly once the sun goes down, summer in Park City can see temperatures climb into the high 20s°C (around 80°F) during the day. Park City is brimming with events, festivals and concerts during the summer, especially the Deer Valley Concert, which uses the natural amphitheatre of the mountain valley to create some surprisingly good acoustics. Pack a picnic and enjoy the show and the scenery at the same time.

  • During autumn: while there are still plenty of activities on offer during the autumn, the real showstopper is the changing colours of ‘fall’. Putting on a display that would do New England proud, the valley is ablaze with reds and golds. The calm conditions make it perfect for hot air ballooning, giving you a great way to see the area before the winter snows set in.

  • During winter: winter sees the start of the ski season in Park City. Temperatures fall to well below 0°C (32°F). If you’re driving in Park City at this time of the year it is best to use a 4x4 or AWD vehicle fitted with snow tyres.

How to get there

Make the journey as memorable as the arrival. Your dedicated concierge can arrange transportation from the closest airport or train station to your luxury Park City chalet.

By plane

Salt Lake City International Airport is approximately 35 miles (56 km) from Park City and is easy to get to and from via Interstate I-80. The airport is also suitable for private charter flights. Alternatively, private flights can land at Heber valley Airport 20 miles south of Park City.

By car

Park City is well connected to other major cities in Utah and beyond via the Interstate I-80. Car hire is available at Salt Lake City Airport and can be arranged by your dedicated concierge. During the winter, the mountain roads up to the more remote chalets can become slippery so it is advisable to hire a 4x4 vehicle to reach your Park City vacation rental.

Local tips

  • Visitors can take advantage of the free public transportation system that loops around town and makes regular runs to all three mountain resort base areas.
  • When dusk sets in, the temperature drops quickly in the mountains, so make sure to pack accordingly.
  • Stick to the designated trails when out hiking - the local wildlife usually stays clear of places humans frequent.
