France French Riviera Saint-Tropez

Saint Tropez villa rental

The perfect stay
in Saint-Tropez, France

Few places exude glamour like Saint-Tropez. This sun-soaked French Riviera resort has been a holiday hotspot since the 1950s, with stars like Brigitte Bardot and Mick Jagger gracing its beautiful beaches. Today, the destination remains as sophisticated as ever, brimming with history, culture and natural beauty. Take a stroll through town and you’ll discover an endless array of elegant mansions hosting glittering beach clubs, high-end art galleries, and wonderfully decadent Saint-Tropez vacation rentals.

Lounging on white sand beaches and savouring long lunches at the charming cafés of cobbled Place des Lices are just two highlights of a Saint-Tropez villa escape. The swish seaside town is also filled with exclusive beach clubs, especially along breathtaking Pampelonne Beach and bustling Plage de Saint-Tropez. The Côte d’Azur gem has numerous intriguing heritage sites, too. Take a tour of its 17th-century citadel to learn about its naval past and soak up panoramic views of the Mediterranean coastline.

Saint-Tropez’s art scene is legendary, with the Annociade Museum — a former chapel turned gallery — bursting with works by the likes of Henri Matisse. Love shopping? There is a bounty of designer stores along Rue François Sibilli. A stroll around the Vieux Port shouldn’t be missed, either. It’s a magnet for the wealthy jet-setters who glide into town on sumptuous super yachts. Once dusk hits, you’ll be spoilt for choice with evening activities. Tuck into succulent seafood at restaurants in La Ponche, sip wine at a chic harbourside bar or sample Saint-Tropez's world-famous nightlife at one of several VIP clubs.

Things you can’t miss in Saint Tropez
  • Admire the 360° views from the Citadelle, which can be reached by a 15-minute walk to the top. Upon descending you can make a pitstop at the small but charming Ponche beach - a true hidden gem.
  • Visit "Little Venice" - situated opposite the city of Saint-Tropez, Port Grimaud is a small city surrounded by water
  • Explore the old harbour promenade, a must-see attraction in Saint-Tropez full of glitzy yachts, colourful houses and many chic cafés.

Best time to go

  • During spring: spring is a brilliant time to book a Saint-Tropez villa if you want to benefit from mild weather and a quieter atmosphere. Revel in the glory of spring on the French Riviera - local plants and flowers blossom, while the mercury gently rises, reaching a high of 22°C (72℉) in May. To immerse yourself in the local culture, don’t skip Les Bravades in mid-May - a historic festival celebrating the town’s patron saint.

  • During summer: June, July and August are peak months for Saint-Tropez villa getaways as the coastline is drenched in sunshine. Temperatures often sit in the high 30s℃ (80s℉) during the daytime, while nights are wonderfully balmy. Cooling off in your swimming pool is a must, while you’ll find plenty of activity going on in the town. August sees France’s national holidays come into full swing, if visiting around this time it’s best to note that the region will be pretty busy, so booking activities and restaurants in advance is highly recommended.

  • During autumn: early autumn is still a great time to enjoy Saint-Tropez’s white sand beaches, with daytime temperatures sitting between 20℃ (68℉) and 24℃ (75℉). Sailing aficionados might want to coincide their vacation with Les Voiles des Saint-Tropez, one of the most impressive regattas in the Mediterranean that’s typically held in early October.

  • During winter: cooler weather makes winter a good season to enjoy Saint-Tropez’s museums, galleries and spectacular shopping scene. December also hails the arrival of the town’s Christmas markets and festive light displays. Visiting between January and March? It’s a good idea to pack a raincoat or umbrella as these are Saint-Tropez’s rainiest months.

How to get there

Make the journey as memorable as the arrival. Your dedicated concierge can arrange transportation from the closest airport or train station to your Saint-Tropez villa.

By plane

Saint-Tropez is a 90-minute drive from Nice Côte D’Azur Airport: the main transport hub of the French Riviera. Toulon’s airport additionally operates seasonal flights from various European destinations, while tiny La Mole airport just outside Saint-Tropez can accommodate private jets and helicopters. Once you touch down, you’ll be able to finish off your journey in comfort thanks to private transfers to your luxurious rental villa arranged through your dedicated concierge.

By boat

Sailing into Saint-Tropez via the azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea is a magnificent option. Vieux Port is dotted with fancy yachts, many of them private but some available for charter. If you’re holidaying between May and October, you could also hop on the seasonal ferry service from Nice (which takes approximately two and a half hours).

By train

Arriving into the region by rail from Paris or other European cities is easy thanks to France’s high-speed trains. While Saint-Tropez doesn’t have its own station, you could hop off in nearby Les Arcs Sur Argens or St Raphael, and have your concierge arrange a car to take you the rest of the way.

By car

The French Riviera can be a fantastic place to drive. Cruising around the coastline to Saint-Tropez is particularly impressive, with magnificent sea vistas at every turn. If you’re venturing further afield for the day, be aware of traffic jams and tricky parking in the region’s larger cities.

Local tips

  • Organise a rental car via your dedicated concierge to get the most out of your trip to Saint-Tropez - this will allow you to get off the beaten path and explore some of the region’s more inaccessible spots. During the summer, parking can be very limited in the town - avoid the hassle by opting for our private driver service.
  • If you plan on browsing one of the local outdoor markets, it is advisable to have a bit of cash as many stalls will not accept card payments.
  • Although Saint-Tropez is a beachside city, most restaurants still require a certain dress code therefore be sure to check before visiting.
