Tucked away among the swaying palms and just a stone's throw from the ocean, Water's Edge is an enchanting Ambergris Caye retreat for up to 12 guests. The villa boasts a 250-foot dock with a charming palapa and a private sandy cove where you can snooze in a hammock or launch a paddleboard. While you'll feel blissfully secluded at this serene oasis, the lively San Pedro Town, with its colourful market stalls, is only five miles south.

The turquoise waters that lap the shoreline are crystal clear and calm, thanks to the barrier reef. Snorkel among the local wildlife, experience the curious rays at Shark Ray Alley, and then try your hand at jet skiing, kite surfing, or kayaking. After busy days exploring the island, the beachside restaurants in San Pedro are the perfect spot to sample delicious local delicacies like conch fritters and moreish salbutes – a puffed fried corn tortilla with a punchy topping.

An open-concept living space allows large groups to socialise, cook, and feast together easily. The light and airy living room pops with marine hues of green and blue and flows onto a spacious modern kitchen, where you can sizzle up fish caught from your private dock. Share your meals at the rustic wooden dining table, then retire to the games room for a round of table tennis or a cosy seat and a movie on the flat screen.

There are six bedrooms, inviting with their rich, earthy colour palettes and sumptuously presented beds. On the ground floor, there are two twin rooms (one with a kitchenette) and two bathrooms. The other bedrooms are found on the second floor. The elegant primary suite offers a king-size bed, and its ensuite is elevated by a jacuzzi tub. There is a second king-size ensuite bedroom, then the final two bedrooms (one with bunk beds and one with a queen-size bed) share a stylish bathroom with a walk-in shower.

Savour a sundowner on one of the furnished poolside terraces, or take your tipple down to the dock and dip your toes in the warm waters. You'll soon embrace a luxuriously slow pace of life when you escape to Water's Edge.
