Bo Phut Beach is 10 minutes' drive away and shows off shallow, turquoise water and seven kilometres of flour-soft sand. When it's time for some sightseeing, don't miss the Big Buddha Temple – it's a short drive east along the palm-dotted coast and is often dubbed Koh Samui's biggest attraction. Samui Elephant Sanctuary is another nearby must-see, especially for animal lovers.

The villa's open-plan living space was designed by an award-winning architect, and it shows. Everything's bright and airy, and floor-to-ceiling windows and doors bring the outside in. The spacious kitchen is finished in modern, grey tones and granite surfaces, while the teak dining table is an impressive centrepiece. In the lounge area, you can sink into a 10-seater U-shaped sofa which surrounds a wooden coffee table in front of a wall-mounted TV. A digital mood lighting system flows throughout the space, allowing you to set the scene depending on how you're feeling.

The five bedrooms all come with ensuite bathrooms, king-sized beds, tiled floors and chic Thai artwork. Every ensuite features a rain shower, a terrazzo bathtub and polished stainless-steel fixtures. The spacious balconies are replete with tropical vistas, and glass balustrades mean your views are completely unobstructed.

Step outside the living area, and you'll find yourself on a wonderful panoramic outdoor terrace, where the jewel in the crown is a 16-metre infinity pool edged with cushioned loungers. The water is entirely enclosed by glass - ideal if you're travelling with little ones. And if you fancy a night of al fresco dining, you can sit around the outdoor table, which is covered by a spotlight-studded wooden pergola. With surroundings as sumptuous as these, you won't want to leave.
