Set well away from the hustle and bustle of mainstream tourism, and resting absolutely seafront overlooking the spectacular Amuk Bay near Candidasa in East Bali, Villa Taft is truly exquisite. This contemporary-styled villa presents four bedrooms, a large living and dining room, a cosy air-conditioned media room, pool, open-sided dining pavilion elevated above the water, and a man-made sandy beach and volleyball court with direct access into a sheltered lagoon with a coral reef. With its delightful team of fulltime staff including a manager and a superb cook, the villa is perfect for families and groups of friends.

Villa Taft is located within the quiet and natural environs of Mendira Beach at the little fishing village of Sengkidu, 3km from Candisasa on Bali's east coast. All that you will find in the neighbourhood is coconut groves, banana plantations, some other private villas and a traditional village. It is safe for swimming here and the reef immediately in front of Taft offers good snorkelling. Ten minutes' walk up the lane are several hotels and restaurants with bars including the 4-star Candi Beach Resort & Spa; Warung Lu Putu Restaurant and Amarta Beach Seaside Restaurant – both of which are superb value-for-money; a tiny but lovely golden-sand beach between Amarta Beach Cottages and Anon Beach Hotel, and a charming gift shop selling handmade bath products. Beyond this, just before the main road, is the village temple and a huge banyan tree, a sports field and the banjar building where the Balinese village community meets.
