France French Riviera Cannes

Cannes villas

The perfect stay
in Cannes

There’s more to Cannes than its world-famous film festival (although it is pretty fabulous). This Côte d’Azur jewel is a thriving coastal city jam-packed with sensational shopping streets, handsome heritage sites, and some of France’s most blissful beaches. Book a stay at one of our exclusive Cannes villa rentals and you’ll have instant access to all this and more.

Cannes is one of the French Riviera’s most enticing cities, thanks in part to its extraordinary collection of attractions. There are intriguing museums where you can delve into the local history, plus a shopping scene to rival that of nearby Nice. The resort city’s Boulevard de la Croisette is an unmissable sight. The two-kilometre-long promenade is fringed by dozens of exquisite buildings, including grand Cannes mansions housing glitzy casinos and elegant designer boutiques.

Most of our sumptuous villas in Cannes place you within easy distance of its shimmering coastline. Huge swathes of soft golden sand make Plage du Midi a local favourite, while central Croisette Beach features chic dining venues, exclusive beach clubs, and the Pierre Canto yachting marina. Visiting in May? Prepare to spot well-dressed celebrities posing around the Palace of Festivals as the world-famous Cannes Film Festival gets into full swing.

Things you can’t miss in Cannes
  • Visit the spectacular Iles de Lérins, a group of four islands reachable by boat in 15 minutes from central Cannes. The two largest islands are Sainte-Marguerite and Saint Honorat.
  • Spend a day relaxing on one of the many private beaches Cannes has to offer. The average access fee of €30 includes a beach bed and towel and these beaches are generally much less crowded than public beaches.
  • Take a leisurely stroll down the most exclusive shopping street in Cannes - La Croisette - which is home to an array of French and international designer boutiques.

Best time to go

  • During spring: summer may offer the best weather for a beach holiday in Cannes, but May is when it's at its busiest. Around the middle of the month is the Cannes Film Festival, an event that draws in thousands of visitors to watch exclusive screenings and catch glimpses of the world’s biggest celebrities. March and April are much quieter and the weather is usually pleasant enough for sightseeing trips and possibly a beach day or two.

  • During summer: temperatures rise well into the 20s℃ (high 60s℉) by June, making it prime time for a beach escape. The air gets very dry and there’s little rain, so you’ll want to cool off with sea swims or regular dips in your Cannes villa swimming pool. Longer days leave plenty of time for activities, whether that’s shopping splurges or laidback sailing trips around the coast.

  • During autumn: while it stays warm well into October, the city experiences occasional rain showers. You’ll want to pack both beach clothes and a raincoat and keep your plans flexible. Cannes’ charming Old Town is much quieter in the autumn, while the city’s public beaches stay open to visitors until late September.

  • During winter: the city may be sleepy during the winter but there’s still plenty to do. Like most French Riviera destinations, Cannes experiences mild daily temperatures of around 10℃ (50℉), making cosy strolls along La Croisette and leisurely museum wanders the perfect activities during this time. The city’s fashionable boutiques also tend to have great sales towards the end of the season as they prepare to re-stock with the new spring/summer collections.

How to get there

Make the journey as memorable as the arrival. Your dedicated concierge can arrange transportation from the closest airport or train station to your Cannes villa.

By plane

Nice Côte d’Azur International Airport is less than an hour from Cannes and offers both charter routes and private jet facilities. Once you arrive, you can either hop on the direct train to Cannes or have your concierge arrange a VIP car transfer to your luxury Cannes rental villa. There is also the option of arriving at the smaller Cannes-Mandelieu Airport. It lies just west of the city and is mainly served by private flights.

By train

Train travel to and from Cannes is popular and a lovely way to soak up the French Riviera’s spectacular landscapes. Cannes has a high-speed, direct rail link to Marseille. From there, it’s possible to journey onwards to numerous European cities, including Paris, London, Milan and Brussels.

By boat

Thanks to Cannes’ Old Harbour and the sparkling new Pierre Canto Port, arriving by boat is a definite possibility. The town’s shores are dotted with superyachts in the summer months, so why not ask your concierge about arranging a charter? There are also direct ferry routes between Nice and Cannes or you can whizz along the coast in a private speedboat.

By car

The French Riviera has a well-maintained road network and some very scenic routes, making it a popular place to drive. Nevertheless, it can get busy around its major cities (including Cannes in peak season), so you may want to arrange car hire for just a few days instead of your entire trip.

Local tips

  • Those visiting Cannes in the summer should be aware of national holidays that fall on the 14th of July and August 15th, during these times the region tends to be crowded, sometimes with festivals taking place.
  • If you are planning to visit during the Cannes film festival, be sure to book as far in advance as possible as everything fills up quickly.
  • Be sure to pack a pair of comfortable walking shoes as the Cannes city centre and promenade area is compact and every major attraction can be reached by foot.
