Emily Cooper has charmed her way through Paris, and now she's set her sights on the Eternal City—Rome. From sipping espresso in quaint piazzas to exploring the city's most charming sights, let’s embark on a stylish Roman adventure inspired by Netflix's favourite expat!

A paradise for food lovers

When in Rome, indulging in pizza is a must, and Antico Forno Roscioli is the place to do it. This historic bakery has been delighting locals and tourists alike with its exceptional pizza for decades. Their pizza al taglio (pizza by the slice) is a revelation, with a light, crispy crust and a variety of delicious toppings.

For a true taste of traditional Roman cuisine, head to Trattoria Da Enzo al 29. Every dish here is a celebration of Rome’s culinary heritage, from the carciofi alla giudia (Jewish-style fried artichokes) and the delicate fiori di zucca (stuffed zucchini flowers), to the tender polpette (meatballs).

Coffee is a way of life in Rome. While most espressos you'll try will be excellent, the real star of the show is the granita di caffè con panna at La Casa del Caffè Tazza d'Oro. A frozen coffee treat layered with sweetened whipped cream, it’s the perfect pick-me-up on a hot day!

Frigidarium is often hailed as one of the best gelaterias in the city, so you can be sure it has a spot on our list. They offer a wide variety of classic and seasonal flavors, one of our favorites being cannolo—a nod to the traditional Sicilian dessert, with crunchy bits of cannoli shell mixed into the gelato.

A day trip to Tivoli

Just a short journey from the bustling streets of Rome lies Tivoli, a hidden gem that offers a perfect blend of history, nature, and breathtaking beauty. Known for its stunning villas and lush gardens, Tivoli provides an idyllic escape from the city.

Explore three of Tivoli’s most enchanting sites—Villa d'Este, Villa Gregoriana, and Hadrian’s Villa—each offering a unique glimpse into the opulence and grandeur from ancient Rome to the Renaissance. Whether you're an art lover, a history enthusiast, or simply in search of a serene retreat, Tivoli promises a day of unforgettable experiences.

Head to Casa Orientale to explore the Trastevere neighbourhood with its independent boutiques and authentic trattorias.

Rue Barbet de Jouy VI - Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris

If you’re seeking a little more culture and a little less commotion, Rue Barbet de Jouy VI places you right at the heart of Paris’s art scene. You’re minutes from the Musée Rodin (home to The Thinker and The Kiss) and a short stroll from the Monets and Cézannes gracing the Musée d’Orsay. Add to that a design-led, light-soaked Parisian apartment? Dream stay: done.

Borgo Roma - Lazio, Rome

If you’re looking to tick off the sights in serious style, Borgo Roma is the perfect base - set above the Piazza di Spagna. Opulent interiors designed by Tommaso Ziffer, who also worked on the Valentino Headquarters, make this one feel particularly Emily in Rome.
