Meet the Homeowner - Matthew Williamson

How would you describe your aesthetic? 

I’m drawn to saturated colours, bold patterns and textural layers - I love to mix warm and cool tones, while saving bright pops of colour for smaller accents. For me, pattern is poetry and brings a space to life.  

What first drew you to this home, and what made you fall in love with it?

I think the first time Liz and I walked into the house, we both fell in love with it. There’s something about the energy and the flow of the place that feels almost magical. Even where I’m sitting right now feels like a sweet spot. It’s been updated and designed to feel very contemporary, and the high ceilings give you a real sense of space.

Why is travel important to you?

I split my time between London and Mallorca. I tend to design by looking at what’s around me, so in Spain I’m painting in my studio and finding inspiration in the outside world most days, whereas London has a faster pace of life and it’s where I come to focus on work. 

What’s made the partnership with onefinestay work so well for you?

Working with onefinestay has been a very positive experience. When we want to put the house on the market or take it off, it’s as simple as going into the calendar.

We’ve used onefinestay not only to rent our home, but also when we travel ourselves. When we took the family to London and needed a place near Kensington, we turned to onefinestay. They found us a wonderful property, and we had a great experience while we were there.
 

What’s your Los Angeles one must-do?

When people come to stay here, the first thing we do is to tell them to take advantage of the Hollywood Hills - there are some incredible trails near here! You're also right in the heart of LA which is a cultural hub of the world, so get out there and enjoy the restaurants, theatre, music and culture.
