We’re so enjoying exploring our new stomping grounds of South West London from our onefinestay home. From activities for the girls to ten-minute date spots for Mum and Dad, we are already very happy here. For those of us who aren’t jetting off abroad this year, I’ve compiled my guide to living in South West London.

Petersham Nurseries

First up in my mini South West London travel guide has to be the Petersham Nurseries. Dining in The Teahouse is always a treat. We love to pop down for lunch and sample the seasonal food inspired by their beautiful kitchen garden - the orange and polenta cake is a perfect pudding. The shop is full of beautiful vintage and home finds, I just adore the atmosphere here!

Richmond Park

A stone’s throw from central London, Richmond Park is the perfect place to escape. Honor loves spotting the deer through the grass. Head to Isabella Plantation near the centre for the most incredible floral displays and the famous ‘Still Pond’.

Kew Gardens

I was so excited to hear that the palace had opened back up at Kew! It’s so beautiful there - the greenhouse is epic - and there is also a brilliant playground for little ones to run around in. I really recommend Kew Gardens for parents.

Orange Pekoe

I absolutely love Saturday brunch here at Orange Pekoe: smashed avocado on a corn frittata! They have dedicated tea sommeliers, chic decor and tables outside to people-watch.

Chiswick House Market

You’ll have seen from my stories how much I love the Chiswick markets - the Duck Pond Market is a vibrant marketplace for small businesses, local artisans and food producers. Open on the 1st, 3rd and 5th  Saturdays of the month (I have a reminder on my phone!) you’ll leave with a bag full of cheese, pastries, handmade soaps, organic wine and flowers.

Ham House Lavender Gardens

It was always important to me to find lots of green spaces and outdoor places to roam; luckily SW London is full of them. One of my favourites is Ham House in Richmond - a beautiful 17th-century house whose cherry garden is full of lavender at this time of year. As you can imagine, the scent from 1,000 English lavender plants is incredible.

Annies

If you can get a table outside here at Annies then do, but the inside is just as gorgeous. Delicious yet simple food, cocktails and lovely people. They have a few sister restaurants too; the Rock and Rose in Richmond and two Little Bird restaurants in Chiswick and Battersea. Such a lovely place to stop by after visiting some of the bustling South West London markets.

The Olympic Cinema

The Olympic Cinema feels just like an old picture house and I love it! There are only two screens so it’s cosy; you can hire out the studios (hello birthday) and there’s a really good restaurant attached to the cinema. Definitely our new go-to for date nights.

Hampton Court Palace

Still wondering what to do in South West London? History buffs will love this one. When the sun is shining, a day spent wandering through the majestic grounds of Hampton Court Palace is always a treat. The very opulent interior is fabulous for getting some unique home inspiration from too.

Still wondering what to do in South West London?

These are my finds after only a month or two in the area and I can’t wait to discover more. Fellow Londoners, where have I missed? Be sure to let me know of any other fabulous South West London attractions - I’m sure there’s plenty out there (perhaps being a South West London tourist guide will be my calling after all!).

When it comes to the best places to live in South West London, well - that completely depends on what you prefer to call home. We chose the riverside setting of Barnes, but there are plenty of fabulous locations in the area including South Kensington and West Brompton.
