Tucked away at the base of the dramatic Tenmile Range, Breckenridge is a thriving mountain town renowned for its world-class skiing resort. Affectionately referred to as ‘Breck’ by the locals, as soon as you arrive at this former mining town you'll realise you've struck gold. Whether you’re visiting for the incredible ski opportunities or for an unforgettable hiking holiday, there’s something for every kind of adventurer here.
Can’t wait to hit the slopes? With over 2,900 acres and 187 trails to be enjoyed, you’ll be spoiled for choice. It’s well worth taking a day off and exploring the town, though. With its vibrant nightlife and eclectic range of stores and art galleries, there’s always something happening here.

Hone your skills and build up confidence on Peak 9 before taking on the challenge of the fast and steep trails of Peak 10 - a firm favourite of the skiing legend, CJ Mueller. For those completely new to skiing, lessons are available on the slopes. Taught by world-class instructors, you’ll get to enjoy the trails safely while learning tips and tricks from the pros.
Calling all thrill-seekers–you’ll find some of the most accessible high alpine terrain in the country. You can’t really miss the peaks; they dominate the skyline above the town and three of them even tower well above the trees. From the Whale’s Tail to the Six Senses, the ten high alpine trails are sure to get your heart thumping as you descend from heights of up to 13,000ft.
The streets of Breckenridge are lined with independent stores, bars, galleries, and restaurants - each with its own unique story to tell. The town is more than just a seasonal ski resort, it’s home to many an explorer and adventurer. From keen skiers who decided to spend every day among the slopes to those who fell in love with the dramatic scenery of the Rockies, spend some time in the bars and you’re sure to hear an interesting tale or two.
Head downtown and you’ll catch a glimpse of what life was like for the original settlers in the mid 19th century. With its traditional Victorian architecture brightly painted in a rainbow of colours, this part of town has retained much of its ‘Old West’ atmosphere.
If you’re in need of some new skiing gear, you’ll find plenty of great outdoor stores in Breckenridge, including Patagonia and Mountain Outfitters. Love thrifting?
