Made up of 40 coral islands and cays, the stunning archipelago of Turks & Caicos is an idyllic tropical hideaway. With stretching white sand beaches, crystalline water and breathtaking natural beauty, you’ll find yourself relaxing instantly amidst these spectacular surroundings. Sun worshippers will adore the balmy tropical climate whilst adventurers will lose no time in exploring the countless activities the islands have to offer. From horseback riding on the beach and spotting humpback whales to snorkelling along the coral reefs and big-game fishing, the possibilities are endless during your holiday in this island paradise.
Picture-perfect Turks & Caicos beaches
Silky white sands, dazzling blue ocean and the perfect temperature year-round: it’s little wonder that Turks & Caicos’ endless beaches are one of its main attractions. A veritable paradise for sun-worshippers, there are also plenty of options for water sports lovers, solace seekers and those travelling with little ones.
Grace Bay Beach, Providenciales, Turks & Caicos
Touted as one of the best beaches in the world, Grace Bay Beach on Providenciales island is certainly worth a visit. Boasting miles and miles of silky white sand, calm turquoise waters and picture-perfect ocean views, this is paradise on earth. If you’ve got plenty of energy, taking a stroll from one end to the other is a great way to savour the spectacular scenery. What’s more, you’ll find an array of beach bars lining the sand, just in case you get thirsty on the way.
Leeward Beach, Providenciales, Turks & Caicos
For those who are craving seclusion, Leeward Beach is a great option. Just east of Grace Bay, this beach lacks the glitz and glamour of its more famous neighbour - ideal if you're looking for some peace and quiet. Furthermore, watersports enthusiasts will love the sheltered channels off the eastern side of the beach, which are great for kayaking, SUP and wakeboarding.
Long Beach, South Caicos, Turks & Caicos
On the other side of the archipelago, Long Beach on South Caicos is also a great option. Here, you’ll find two kilometres of perfect white sand framed by lush vegetation. Just off the shore, discover underwater fields of seagrass, home to conchs, stingrays and turtles. And, if you’re an early bird, you’ll be able to enjoy the beach’s famously vivid sunrises too.
Fine dining favourites & relaxed beach bars
Boasting a wealth of dining options, the rich flavours of Turks & Caicos will delight any gourmands in the group. From high-end restaurants to laid-back conch shacks, you’ll always be able to find a spot which will perfectly suit your mood.
Da Conch Shack
An island institution, no visit to Providenciales is complete without dinner and drinks at Da Conch Shack and Rum Bar. Conch is one of the main flavours of the islands and you’ll find it on menus everywhere, but nowhere does it quite as good as Da Conch Shack. What’s more, the friendly vibes, delicious rum cocktails and biweekly live music nights make this a great spot for an evening out too.
If you’re looking for a fine dining spot for date night, then Coco Bistro will not disappoint. With the largest palm grove on the island as your dining room, you can enjoy fresh local cuisine surrounded by gentle swaying coconut trees and starlit skies.
Any foodies in the group will have to pay Coyaba by chef Paul Newman a visit. Serving up elegant contemporary Caribbean cuisine, the menu here bursts with creative fusion dishes. What’s more, the team here really focuses on using artisanal products from sustainable producers, as well as supporting the local fishermen and farmers.
Magnolia Wine Bar & Restaurant
Finally, Magnolia Wine Bar & Restaurant is the perfect spot for sundowners. With an incredible 180° view of the north side of Providenciales, you can relax on the beautiful balcony and enjoy a refreshing glass of wine, paired perfectly with the vibrant sunset and balmy weather.
Turks & Caicos island adventures
Active types will be happy to hear there are plenty of things to keep them busy in Turks & Caicos. Sail, swim or hike through the archipelago’s breathtaking natural landscapes, exploring picture-perfect coves, secret cays and paradise islands along the way.
Explore the island’s underwater world
Although the tropical landscapes are lovely in Turks & Caicos, it’s the underwater world which is truly spectacular. From humpback whales and giant manta rays to spotted sea slugs and bottlenose dolphins, below the waves, you’ll find an incredible array of marine life. Whether you want to snorkel along the coral reefs or set off on a scuba adventure in the deeper water off the main islands, you’re sure to be stunned by the sealife here.
Unearth the history of Turks & Caicos
If you’d prefer to keep your feet on solid ground, then there are some hiking and biking trails dotted around the islands and plenty of national parks to explore. The island of Salt Cay is a great option if you’re looking for a walk which takes in some of the area’s history too. Passing by the Whale House Bay and Taylor Hill ruins, as well as the Salinas (which were used for salt production), you’ll get a flavour of the island’s colonial and commercial past.
Bask in the beauty of the Chalk Sound lagoon
One of the best swimming spots in Turks & Caicos is the breathtaking Chalk Sound. This incredibly scenic lagoon is located in the southwest of Providenciales and the picturesque drive there is also a great opportunity for sightseeing. Due to its status as a national park, no motorised boats are allowed in the lagoon, meaning the calm and shallow waters are wonderfully peaceful - perfect for swimming in. Kayaking and SUP are also excellent ways to explore this area of incredible natural beauty.
