10 unmissable winter experiences
Categories
While Aspen might be best known for its world-class ski resort, there’s still plenty to discover without needing to put your boots and goggles on. If you’re planning on taking it a little easier during your stay, we’ve curated the ideal itinerary.
Hit snooze for a little longer - after all, you are on holiday. Gradually roll out of bed, before enjoying a leisurely breakfast with a view across the snow-topped mountains of Aspen.
Head out into the town and grab a coffee at the Paradise Bakery & Cafe, a cosy little eatery serving up freshly-baked goods and warming soups.
After enjoying a sweet treat and a freshly-brewed coffee, it’s time to brave the crisp, mountain air and enjoy some retail therapy. Whether you’ll be making a beeline for Aspen’s luxury boutiques - Gucci, Prada, and Chanel, to name a few - or even looking forward to browsing the local vintage stores, you’re bound to find something special to take home with you.
Time to enjoy a leisurely lunch at Plato's. Nestled in the Aspen Meadows Resort, this excellent eatery boasts the most magical views across the towering Aspen Highlands and the Buttermilk mountains. There’s a big focus on sustainable, seasonal fare here - each dish is crafted with carefully-selected local ingredients.
Activity time. For those with little ones who aren't ready to ski yet, the much-loved Whoa Nelly Sledding Hill provides hours of fun and a chance for them to experience their first rush of gliding down Aspen's snowy hillsides.
Alternatively, we can arrange for a scenic dog sledding tour through the stunning Snowmass backcountry - a truly exhilarating and memorable experience for both adults and children alike.
Back in the town itself, horse-drawn carriages are a lovely way to see the sights. The jingle of sleigh bells and the clip-clop of hooves are sure to get you into the festive spirit as you make your way around the snow-dusted streets of Aspen.
Now it’s time to head back and experience an indulging spa treatment from the comfort of your chalet. Let your cares float away as you enjoy a soothing massage, the only distraction being the gentle crackle of a log burner somewhere nearby.
There are many excellent restaurants waiting to be discovered in the town, but for tonight, they can wait. Instead of heading out, why not enjoy a three-course meal from the comfort of your chalet? You don’t even need to do any of the prep work - your concierge can arrange for a private chef to stop by and create a delicious menu tailored to your preferences.
Wrap up warm and make your way outside to the fire pit to spend some quality time together, snuggled under a blanket of stars - accompanied by evening digestifs and s'mores for the little ones. For something a little extra special, we can even arrange for live musicians and fire dancers to perform in the garden.
