Dinosaurs, design, and dinner reservations. Kensington and South Kensington strike the perfect balance between blockbuster culture and genuinely good living. Come for the museums, stay for the local favorites; luxury boutiques, artisan coffee and manicured streets that make your morning stroll feel like a movie. Here’s our guide to the very best of Kensington and South Kensington.
The V&A is one of our favorite museums, and for good reason. Start in the fashion galleries, move through the design icons, and catch yourself reevaluating your entire wardrobe on the way out. A private tour of Kensington Palace comes highly recommended: explore like royalty before the doors open to the public, then take tea in the Orangery overlooking the gardens.
When it comes to dining, there’s no need to brave central London or journey east. From trending bakeries to in-demand dinner spots, Kensington has you covered. Head to Elixis for Mediterranean-inspired brunch, then Big Mamma’s Italian playground, Jacuzzi, for mountains of pasta served with a side of show-stopping interiors. And for a pastry on the go, it has to be Filo.
When it’s time for something to sip, Kensington delivers. We love Amaro Bar for inventive cocktails (and all your favorites, too). For a quintessential pub experience head to The Anglesea Arms for good beer and a sunny garden. If you need some extra fuel the morning after, Guillam is a go-to for coffee that’s taken seriously.
For days out with kids, you’re exceptionally well placed. The Natural History Museum is a classic for a reason, dinosaurs, blue whales, and enough hands-on moments to keep everyone engaged. Then head west to the Kyoto Garden in Holland Park, where waterfalls, koi carp, and winding paths offer the kind of calm that works on adults, too.
See Hyde Park the proper way, on horseback. Your Guest Experience team can arrange a private ride with Hyde Park Stables, taking you past Kensington Palace and along the Serpentine before the park fills for the day.
Garden square setting, room for six, and interiors that feel considered without trying too hard. Hereford Square is London living at its best.
Classic London terrace, modern interiors, room for six - Elvaston Place III is your go-to for easy living and effortless access to cafés, museums, and shops.
A Kensington address with serious personality, Blythe Road pairs grown-up design with a private pool and an actual slide. Room for ten, unforgettable for everyone.
