The estate is looked after by a staff of 40 including villa managers, gourmet chefs, butlers, spa therapists and drivers with three seven-seater cars on hand for day trips.

Designed by the internationally acclaimed Bali architect Popo Danes, Pandawa is composed of four stunning villas each with its own character and charm but all rich in the finest materials, artistry and sheer style. The Pala

A magnificent living room hosts two seating areas with huge, deep-cushioned sofas beneath a tiered ceiling painted with delicate frescoes of natural scenes. A curving, glass-fronted balcony extends towards the ocean like the prow of a ship whilst a charming TV lounge provides a cosier setting. The grand dining room boats two handsome tables as well as a bar and butler station, before spilling out onto a fabulous balcony. A tranquil spa treatment room provides a welcoming serenity whilst the children’s games room - with toys and a Nintendo Wii - will keep younger ones entertained.

The master suite continues the spectacle of the main space with floor-to-ceiling windows and a glass-fronted balcony framing unimpeded views across the ocean. There's also a sitting area with two sofas gathered around a large TV, a writing desk and a sumptuous king bed. Two further king suites, and two split-king suites, are all utterly charming havens with each providing a living area that can act as a lounge, study or kids room, separated by gorgeous latticework panels. Villa Rose

Contemporary chic meets Balinese tradition in this sleek take on tropical tradition. Clad throughout in marble, teak and shining glass, nearly every room in Villa Rose boats a mesmerising ocean view. The main living area is a gloriously lofty space with open sides to welcome in the breeze. A glass-fronted balcony runs all the way around so that you feel totally connected to the outdoor world. Meanwhile, deeply comfy rattan sofas and fabulous furnishings crafted from the natural shapes of fossilised or polished trees bring striking artistry and sublime comfort. Antique wooden columns and ornate carvings add that touch of opulence. The dining room continues these stylings through its astonishing 14-seat table crafted from polished tree roots plus there's another relaxing seating area. A cosy TV room provides the perfect nook to enjoy a film on the 50-inch screen or a drink at the bar.

The bedroom suites are characterised by rich wood floors of teak, bordered by cool creamy marble and surrounded by walls of glass leading to terraces. There are two king and two twin rooms, each displaying beautiful traditional ikat fabrics in the colours of the sea as well as marble-clad bathrooms with freestanding tubs, showers and dressing areas. Two suites also offer lavish al fresco showers.

Villa Marie

Classic Balinese design finds its apotheosis in the delightful network of pavilions and ponds amongst lush gardens which make up Villa Marie. Four separate spaces ensure everyone has privacy and tranquillity whilst the main, glass-wrapped living pavilion brings everyone together. Here a fabulously open and airy space provides a comfy seating area around a TV, a grand 10-seat dining table and a lovely guest kitchen all composed with effortless grace.

Two master suite pavilions provide idyllic retreats for couples with oval terrazzo soaking tubs and a king or super-king bed in each. Two further kings and two twins are lavishly appointed with all rooms boasting teakwood floors and marble fittings.

Bringing all these separate spaces together is the magnificent T-shaped 16m pool - with a shallow area for kids - resting inside a capacious deck, scattered with loungers. The open-sided living pavilion plays host to two gorgeous living rooms, each decked out in designer furnishings, with one gathering soft, leather chairs around a 43-inch TV and delightful coffee table. The dining rooms continue the high-end design with glass-topped tables and a glamorous bar area with a kitchenette.

The master suite is particularly special: tucked away in its own pavilion overlooking the beach, it is ensconced in its own garden and composed with a unique romance. Antique furnishings and colourful batiks fill the private living area with a dining table, butler's pantry and seating facing a 50-inch TV. A splendid gilded ‘Chinese engagement’ king bed rests in the centre with a marble-clad bathroom to the side offering up a rain shower and sea-view terrazzo soaking tub. Outside lies an ironwood deck with a loveseat overlooking the lagoon-like pool and gardens.

Four further guest suites have their own magic with split-king beds adorned with upholstered batik headboards and their own sitting area with a range of special antiques resting upon a teakwood floor with a border of rich marble.
