Regarded by many to be the prettiest village in the Alpilles, Eygalières is a beguiling Medieval settlement just a few miles from Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. What makes it so special is that ‘time-standing-still’ feeling you get as you arrive. Built on a rocky outcrop, its traditional limestone buildings sprawl lazily in the afternoon sun, the red terracotta tiled roofs shining against the verdant green of the olive trees. It’s a place where you notice little details, such as the carvings around the doors, the wayside shrines and the fountains in the squares. You’ll also find one of the best boulangeries in the district here, the fresh baguettes are simply divine.

Les 3 Nicole is a superb fusion of contemporary and traditional. The limestone features inside and out take centre stage, such as the magnificent carved stone fireplace in the living area. This is balanced by simple modern furnishings in neutral colourways. The seven bedrooms are serene and restful and comprise five king-size bedrooms and two additional rooms with two single beds each. All have refined ensuites with showers or soak tubs. Three of the bedrooms are located in the cosy guest house and have access to the garden. The remaining four bedrooms are in the main villa.
