Outside living is the order of the day at Blue Lagoon, taking advantage of Virgin Gorda’s constant sunshine. Central to everything is the villa’s staggered pool deck, equipped with both a hot tub and the pool itself. All around are sunbeds and deck chairs, plus an outdoor kitchen whose bar, refrigerator and grill enable – or positively encourage – afternoon-long parties for groups of friends. That’s if you can resist the lure of nearby Savannah Bay, one of Virgin Gorda’s very finest white-sand beaches.

During days at home, a shaded dining table enables al fresco lunches or dinners. Beyond this is the dedicated perfumed Zen Garden – ideal for yoga or meditation – and then a four-hole putting green. If scores aren’t settled there, take them to the games room and its ping pong table (and bar, and 55-inch HD TV). Next door sprawls the high-ceilinged ‘great room’, an open-plan space encompassing a wood-panelled kitchen good enough for A-list chefs, a breakfast bar for casual coffee chats, armchairs flanking another telly, and a more formal dining table.

All three bedrooms are air-conditioned and ensuite, and each boasts top-notch mattresses; two also provide exotic outdoor showers for the full tropical experience. Superb sea views are a given, and don’t fret about making your bed – the villa’s board includes a housekeeping service, as well as airport transfers.
