Nestled in a prime location on the gorgeous Amalfi coast is this utterly charming four-bedroom retreat, welcoming up to eight guests. A symphony of white interiors with gently curved lines and accented with bursts of colour, Marelda is a contemporary masterpiece with a boutique feel, where the outside spaces are just as important as the elegant interior.

The Amalfi coast is, quite simply, exquisite. Beloved of Roman emperors down the millennia, it continues to be one of Italy's most exhilarating and naturally beautiful regions. Sparkling blue oceans, pretty medieval towns with tumbling cobbled streets, and cities where Michelin-starred dining all come together to make a vacation on the Amalfi coast a truly memorable experience. Amalfi is just a 16-minute drive away and a wonderful town for history and food lovers. Wander its narrow alleys and discover its grand medieval cathedral and Fountain of Saint'Andrea, and enjoy a leisurely lunch with sea views and freshly caught fish in one of its many restaurants.

Marelda captures the character of the region with simple whitewashed walls underneath which are architectural features that turn this into a genuinely special villa. The interior echoes the white exterior, giving a sensation of continuity between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The bright pops of colour bring the social areas to life, with plush furnishings and delightful textiles sprinkling a little boho chic. The kitchen is superbly fitted with the latest appliances and the dining area is intimate and relaxed. The combination of the light blues and the warm honey gold of the wooden flooring reminds you of the beaches of the Amalfi coastline.

The four bedrooms are sublime, tranquil suites that imbue a sense of well-being. The primary suite on the first floor has a spacious queen-size bed, panoramic ocean views, and an attractive ensuite. The remaining three guestrooms all have queen-size beds and beguiling ensuites, all of which have individual personalities and customised décor.

Manicured gardens surround Marelda, and the scent of warm jasmine in the evening air is intoxicating. The outdoor spaces mirror the designer interior, incorporating splashes of colour to bring a more laid-back feeling to the pristine white walls and sunny terraces. On the rooftop is a furnished solarium and jacuzzi. Just 40 steps from the villa is a secluded sandy beach, or get a few laps in before breakfast in the plunge pool.     • Please note that Marelda only accepts children over 6 years of age.

    • Two extra beds can be added to the villa as a supplement.
