Family-friendly Villa Wayu is one of the largest villas at Miskawaan, a gated estate on Koh Samui’s north coast. Its bedrooms are especially impressive: airy, ensuite doubles or twins boasting outdoor showers, flatscreen TVs and sliding glass doors opening to terraces. Two sets of sleeping quarters interconnect to allow families some privacy, while a games room and three bunk beds are perfect for junior guests.
Indoor facilities range from a small gym and sauna (shared with neighbouring Villa Sila) to the designated multimedia den and a colossal, open-plan living and dining room. Off that sprawls the kitchen, inside which dedicated chefs will prepare Thai or international meals on demand, predominantly using local ingredients.
You may well choose to eat outdoors, enjoying the shade of an open-sided sala structure equipped with surround-sound speakers. Come in your swimming costume: both the chlorinated, 15-metre pool and – beyond your front lawn and garden gate – Maenam Beach’s soft golden sands are close by. Sun loungers proliferate, and two other salas around the landscaped gardens are designed for lazing or visiting masseurs respectively.
Along with those, Miskawaan’s excellent staff can arrange yoga or Thai cookery lessons. Home days can be embellished by borrowing kayaks and paddleboards, while potential outings span street-food tours, speedboat trips to marine parks for snorkelling, picnics on empty islands and chauffeured excursions to elephant sanctuaries or jungly zip-lines.
