High spirits
Ready to rock and roll? There’s a sense of daring about Gayton Road, a feeling that anything’s possible. Outside, it’s pure Victoriana, but once through the door, the suspended staircase, the curvy furniture and sleek modern aesthetic will propel you towards a very enjoyable future. The cobbles of Hampstead Village are moments from your front step, and if you like decadent restaurants, designer shops and rustic cafes, then you’ll be in heaven. You’re not far from the Heath, where you’ve hills, woodlands and picnic-opportunities galore. Make a splash at the Lido, or exercise your intellect with a really good book. Hampstead is the home to some of the city’s most affluent and ambitious residents – and now, that includes you.
Hot to trot
Your hostess is a keen amateur polo player. She’s well-travelled, fit, and utterly fearless… but she’s got a soft side, too. When she’s not at full gallop, she’s painting watercolours, or playing with her two little kitties.
Hit it
Far larger than you’d expect from the street, this home’s rooms are sleek and fashionable. The floor looks to be laid in slabs of milk chocolate, while the recessed fireplace adds just a hint of cosiness to the hip open plan living space. The kitchen itself is all clean lines and brushed chrome, its futuristic groove softened by an idyllic treetop view. The sitting room is shaded in tones of pearl and caramel, with a piano, two comfy sofas, and an array of art books. There are more cushions to be found out on the split-level terrace, where the very best outdoor seating means you can sunbathe and dine - in style.
Both bedrooms have their own, rather glamorous, ensuite, and the double even has a small balcony. The master bedroom is classically beautiful, and supremely uncluttered. There’s just a lightly textured rug, acres of space, and an infinitely comfortable bed, freshly made with our crisp white linen.
Beyond the boundary
Hampstead Heath is only around the corner, and you could spend days exploring its hills, sunny glades, cafes and swimming ponds. Hampstead Village is all cute independent shops and jazzy restaurants, while the bars and cafes are some of the best outside zone one. But if you do want to nip into town, the tube journey from Hampstead to Leicester Square takes seventeen minutes.
