Located just south of the city, in the exclusive Conchas Chinas neighbourhood, the villa ensures guests enjoy the best of both worlds. It is far enough away that the picture-perfect Mexican beaches are less densely packed but close enough that Vallarta's mouth-watering street food and bustling promenade are within easy reach.

While guests could easily spend weeks reclining on the white sand, soaking up the sun and enjoying Casa Buena Vida’s home comforts, the region boasts plenty of activities to keep you busy, too. In the city, trendy boutiques sit side-by-side with fantastic restaurants serving up pescado zarandeado and unbelievably fresh ceviche. In the evening, the streets come alive, and the vibrant bar and nightlife scene is evident. Outside the city, watersports abound, and guests can try snorkelling, scuba diving and paddle boarding. Boat excursions take you off to exotic coves, and horseback riding along the beach is not uncommon.

The Casa Buena Vida was built by Peter and Tari Bowman, Californian restaurateurs with an eye for design. Spanning four storeys, the villa incorporates traditional Mexican furnishings and design flourishes into a unique architecture, resulting in expansive rooms that open onto large, rolling terraces. The opulent lounge extends into a fully-equipped, Mediterranean-inspired kitchen and also features a bar. Unique domed ceilings, a spiral staircase and floating walkways add a touch of magic.

The main building includes four spacious bedrooms with king-size beds, terrace access and lavish ensuite bathrooms. In some rooms, free-standing tubs provide the perfect space for some indulgent ‘me’ time. Another two bedrooms are located in the penthouse casita, both of which benefit from king-size beds and ensuites.

Outside, the fully-staffed villa boasts a heated saltwater pool and a jacuzzi on the lower floor. Dining furniture is found on all levels, ensuring you can take meals wherever your mood dictates, while sun loungers surround the pool and populate the bedroom terraces. A patio with outdoor seating encircles the gorgeous domed rooftop, and a second shaded rooftop area offers excellent coastal views. Casa Buena Vida is one of the most inspiring and enchanting holiday villas in the world, the jewel in Puerto Vallarta's already shimmering crown.

It was an absolute dream. We had 6 couples stay and there was plenty of space. Beautiful views, secluded, only a 5 minute Uber into town. 2 of the bedrooms are way up top in what likely was meant for servants quarters so if you have more than 4 couples someone will have a lot of steps to walk up! But still the same view and amenities. The staff was wonderful, kept margs and beers coming for us at the pool. The best place I've ever been, well worth it! Thank you for everything.
