St Barts is a jewel in the Caribbean Sea with a unique personality. A fascinating cultural blend of Afro-Caribbean and European French, it was once a haven for brigands and pirates. While all the buried treasure was dug up long ago, today it still sparkles with life and a distinctive vibrancy that has made it the holiday darling of the beau monde. Gourmet restaurants sit on the beach, serving the freshest caught-that-morning fish with a drenching of some seriously spicy pepper sauce, all washed down with potent rum cocktails. With sunsets that paint the sky in myriad colours and a languid, laid-back attitude to life, St Barts is just the place to leave your cares behind and revive your soul.
Over The Ocean is a collection of four individual buildings centred on an impressive pool and sun deck, surrounded by tropical gardens. The main building houses the living space, with a fluid indoor-outdoor feel and is furnished with comfortable armchairs and couches. The fully-equipped kitchen and elegant dining room are also located within this larger section of the complex and complement the characteristic St Barts high-vaulted ceilings in white with warm, dark wood for a pleasing organic look. In the next building is the TV room, the perfect spot for movie nights. The four sumptuous bedrooms, all of which have queen-size beds, are spread around the complex, offering seclusion and privacy for guests. Soft sandy tones that echo the colour of the beach enhance that natural theme, creating restful spaces where you can unwind at the end of the day.
While the large swimming pool dominates the centre of the villa’s layout, it is worth wandering around the pristine gardens to find your own ‘secret spot’ where you can snooze the afternoon away. Find a hammock, grab a bestseller and a rum cocktail, lie back and listen to the sounds of the ocean as you let your cares drift away on the breeze.
