Tucked away among the towering pines, the spacious walk-to-ski Polar Queen boasts commanding views of craggy peaks from its enviable position in Mountain Village. Grab your skis each morning and wander through the fresh mountain air to access ski trails in just minutes. You're spoilt for choice with enticing restaurants and friendly bars, both in the village or a quick gondola ride away in Telluride.

Novices will be in safe hands at the resort's excellent ski school, while those with plenty of experience can test their limits on the Black Iron Bowl and Palmyra Peak. The picturesque slopes aren't the only source of local entertainment. Why not take your group on a thrilling white water rafting expedition - or in the summer, keen fishermen can flyfish in the tranquil trout streams? Telluride Town Park is a family favourite year-round, with volleyball, skating, tennis and live music festivals.

Polar Queen offers a delightful open-plan design, allowing for easy entertaining, while walls of windows capturing the San Sophia Ridge and high vaulted ceilings reflect the grandeur of your location. Curl up in front of the modern feature fireplace while the night's chef cooks happily in the chic granite-coloured kitchen, complete with an imposing marble-topped island-breakfast bar. Retire for a game of pool, relax on bean bags in the chillout room or tuck yourself away for an hour in the office before heading to the wet bar for a well-deserved nightcap.

Wake up to enchanting views from the chalet's six airy bedrooms, with access to five fresh bathrooms, including two ensuites. The master suite offers a king-size bed, with another bedroom offering a split king. Three bedrooms provide a queen-size bed each and the final a twin. There is a further bunk room with a twin, a trundle and a bunk with two twins over a full bed. Guests can also use a cosy sofa bed.
