The Medici name is synonymous with the Italian Renaissance and the golden age of art, opulence and finery. This stunning 15th-century villa epitomises that elegance and sophistication. Offering ten sumptuous bedrooms and space for up to 20 guests, this is a villa that is perfect for important family celebrations. Filled with spectacular original features and decorated in a typical Tuscan style, Villa Valco Reale is a Renaissance masterpiece nestled in the rolling countryside of Vicchio del Mugello.
This part of Italy is quintessentially Tuscan, from the vast private estate and parklands surrounding the villa to the vineyards and sleepy towns of the Mugello region. Picture a soft golden light, tree-lined lanes winding between soft, billowy hillsides, and you know that around the next corner is a medieval village with cobbled streets and sleepy market squares. If you want to add a little high-octane excitement to your visit, the Mugello Racing Circuit is within driving distance.
The immensely wealthy Bartoli family originally built Villa Falco Reale. Initially a fortified tower house, it transformed into a palatial family home and hunting lodge. Today, it's evolved into one of the finest villas in Tuscany, offering lavish interiors and meticulously manicured gardens. Every part of the villa combines original features and classically-inspired décor, from the enchanting living room to the adorable country kitchen. The dining room is quite breathtaking and the ideal place for a formal celebratory meal.
The main villa has six sublime bedrooms adorned with period furniture and gossamer silk drapery. The rooms include two standard doubles and four twin single rooms. The villa's annexe houses a further four bedrooms, three of which have two French beds each, and a final bedroom specially adapted for disabled guests, with two singles forming a double bed if required.
Outside, the grounds are breathtaking. A large heated pool sparkles in the Tuscan sunshine, while the magnificent gardens invite you to stroll around in the afternoon or bring out the watercolours and capture that fleeting moment on canvas. Villa Falco Reale also has a wellness centre where you can unwind and let the gentle hands of a professional masseuse soothe those tired muscles.
