Flanked by tropical greenery and positioned high on Steele Point, a private peninsula jutting out from Tortola’s West End, Gestalt’s architecture firmly adheres to Mediterranean principles. That sees it deliberately blur the indoor and outdoor worlds, with lots of al fresco living spaces spread across its two floors – ideal for families or groups of friends keen to informally socialise.

The first one you’ll encounter is a large, flower-framed courtyard. Then there’s the marble-topped gourmet kitchen, complete with a wine cellar, which opens to a terrace through its breakfast counter. Across the two levels are a pair of open-air lounges – one starring an eye-catching curved banquette – and a dining space, all of them blessed with soft breezes and divine sea views. Even the four ensuite bedrooms, ranging from queen to king-size, come with outdoor bathrooms and wide vistas.

A garden path winds down to the ocean-facing plunge pool and its wooden sun deck, ringed by lofty palms and pot plants. There’s a hammock alongside chaise longues, while the path continues on to an oceanside dock from which the adventurous can dive or snorkel. Here you may meet guests of the estate’s other two luxury villas – Steele Point and Blackbeard’s Hideaway – which can also be rented together by groups of up to 22.
