Breath-taking ocean scenes and powder-soft white sandy beaches make Punta Mita a perfect spot for water sports, fishing, sailing and diving. Inland, hiking trails take you deep into the towering Sierra Madre mountains. Take a guided tour of Monkey Mountain if you like a bit more of a physical workout - while the trek may be challenging, the views at the end are totally worth it.

After all that exertion, Casa Pontoquito welcomes you back with comfortable furniture and a relaxed, laid-back ambience. Artwork, sculpture and organic artefacts add real character to every room, while the al fresco dining/bar area and charming sunken lounge area next to the pool make evening gatherings under the stars an absolute must. The modern interiors are light and airy, with an open-plan social, dining and kitchen space that flows effortlessly between the different areas. The kitchen is exceptional, with high-end, professional-quality appliances that will delight even the fussiest of chefs.

The villa has seven bedrooms divided between the two levels. The upper-level bedrooms have private balconies, so everyone can watch the sunrise with an early-morning coffee. The décor feels organic and supremely elegant, with a clever use of stone facings that add an air of coolness to each room. The primary suite has a king-size bed and attractive ensuite, as well as a private sitting area. Three guest rooms have king-size beds and ensuites with spa-standard fixtures and there are two bedrooms featuring cosy queen-size beds. The final bedroom has two single beds, making it ideal for younger guests.

Outside, a manicured lawn leads down to the impressive infinity pool. Quiet corners provide loungers and umbrellas where you can relax in the afternoon sun. Or head to the private beach for a pre-breakfast stroll or a sunset horseback ride in the most intoxicating surroundings.
