Gladden Private Island has an astoundingly beautiful location, secluded in the heart of the Belize Barrier Reef, fringed with dazzling white sands and surrounded by swirling coral reefs and crystal-clear lagoons. You’ll arrive here by speedboat or helicopter, which will allow you to appreciate how truly special the setting really is.

There’s just one villa on the island, meaning it’s a completely private tropical oasis. The villa can sleep four guests in two bedrooms, although it was built for two and most guests come here on a romantic getaway. There’s also an elegant open-plan living area with dark woods and floor-to-ceiling windows, a rooftop deck and a plunge pool with ocean views.

Being castaway doesn’t mean foregoing top service, either; a full team is ready and waiting to cater to your every whim. For premium privacy, they’re based on a smaller secret island nearby, and a ‘privacy meter’ will let you know when a member of staff has stepped foot on your island. Top chefs from around the world take turns in the kitchen to conjure up local dishes, while your personal concierge can arrange spa treatments and excursions. If you’re visiting in spring, you could be lucky enough to swim with whale sharks at nearby Gladden Spit.     • All inclusive: All meals prepared by a gourmet chef, all beverages including fine wines, all activities including snorkeling, scuba diving and PADI certification, spa treatments, transfers from and to Belize City. Included in the price for a 7 day stay is a one-way 35 minute helicopter transfer over the barrier reef directly to Gladden.
