Piazza Mattei is a five bedroom, five bathroom apartment in Navona-Pantheon-Venezia. Restored period features, terracotta tiled floors and ornate, gilded coving sit side by side with contemporary comforts in this air-conditioned home which sleeps 12. Ceiling frescoes by Renaissance maestros the Zuccari brothers loom over the vast living room, where there are two long sofas and a dining table seating 10. On the same floor is a grand billiards room, a separate kitchen, a master bedroom with a stand-alone sauna, and two more bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms. Upstairs are the fourth and fifth bedrooms, one of which is ensuite, and another separate bathroom. Next door to Largo di Torre Argentina, one of the city’s archaeological wonders, this home is steeped in ancient Rome, while cobbled lanes dotted with vintage stores and fashion boutique are also nearby. Colosseo metro station is about 20 minutes’ walk away.
