Just steps from soft white sands, with palm-shaded walled gardens, an ocean-view pool and effortless indoor/outdoor living, this seven-bedroom villa boasts a modern Mexican design. Zen del Mar has been created with privacy and pampering in mind – there are large windows that make the most of the view and sliding doors that disappear into the walls to let the outside in.

The sunken living room offers total comfort, while the indoor dining area is centred around a bespoke hardwood table and leads out to the dining terrace. Outside, tiered patios provide plenty of spaces for lazing in the sun or shade. The 20-metre-long infinity pool has a shallow section for kids (it can also act as a perch for adults sipping icy beers in the pool). Each of the seven bedrooms has a hand-crafted wooden bed with embroidered canopy and an ensuite bathroom. Some of the rooms have balconies, while the two penthouse suites offer the best views of the ocean.

The villa is fully staffed, with a chef, concierge, maids and a butler. You’ll have use of ocean kayaks to get out on the water, there’s great snorkelling, and the beach is one of the most important sites in the area for sea turtle nesting, so be sure to keep an eye out if it’s nesting season.
