Popular with presidents and celebrities alike, huge Sand Dollar Estate is one of the few St Thomas villas to boast its own private beach. It’s no ordinary beach, either, but rather a slice of world-famous Magens Bay. From the main deck, stairs lead past palm trees to its white sand, dotted with Adirondack chairs. Kayaks, paddleboards and tackle-fishing equipment stand by.

Numerous other outside spaces tempt around the fully-staffed villa, which sits in two private, tropical acres a short drive from the airport. Partially shaded, its rooftop deck not only has panoramic views and a hammock but also incorporates a full gym and a spa with treatment rooms and a hydrotherapy Jacuzzi. Below are a seemingly endless array of terraces, united by a Bluetooth sound system. Then come the long pool and hot tub, either side of a thatched gazebo, plus an al fresco dining table, a barbecue and various wine coolers.

Life is just as luxurious inside, through the floor-to-ceiling windows. Fitted with sleek, modern furnishings, the main house includes a games room, billiards table and office, while its top-of-the-line kitchen has satisfied even some of the most A-List chefs. Nine spacious, ensuite bedrooms are spread around here and the accompanying villa, Little Sand Dollar, most affording terraces and outdoor showers. Two additional bungalows allow for up to 30 guests to be accommodated in total – ideal for any special occasion.
