Family-friendly Villa ILuh Abaca is located in Petitenget: an especially cool corner of upmarket Seminyak. Bali’s best-reviewed day spa, Sundari, and several great restaurants are on the same street, while various sandy beach clubs are within a five-minute drive (chauffeurs can be arranged) away.

The biggest of Abaca Villas’ three properties – which together host groups of 32 – Iluh includes a 16-metre pool affording glorious views over green rice paddies. Sunbeds and lush gardens surround it, with a shallow wading area for kids. Breezes flow into the lofty open-plan living space, where a dining table and high-spec TV await. So too do lots of Balinese artworks: though sleek and contemporary, the home features many traditional touches – another being its Javanese-style teak ‘gladak’ bungalow.

Two wheelchair-friendly bedrooms occupy that, with four more in the main house. All are air-conditioned and ensuite, and all boast mosquito-netted beds. The master room features an exotic outdoor shower; two top-floor rooms share a roof terrace facing those same rice fields.

A daily breakfast is included, and Abaca’s chef can cook as many other meals – Indonesian, Asian, European, Western – as you need, according to personal preferences. The estate includes shared ping-pong and foosball tables, plus a projector screen to facilitate fun Netflix nights. Otherwise, ask your Villa Manager to arrange temple trips, surf-school lessons or Sundari sessions, as well as any other provisions you may need.
