Near the beach in buzzy Petitenget, Villa Kadek Abaca has an unusual abundance of lounge spaces – ideal for groups keen to spread out. Its options range from spacious living or dining areas to cosy reading nooks and snoozy daybeds. Beside the 16-metre pool – complete with shallow wading areas – is a thatched-roof gazebo where barbecue lunches might be enjoyed. An upstairs lounge-terrace looks regally over the villa’s gardens toward bright green rice paddies.

Retractable glass doors allow breezes to ripple around the open-plan interiors. Antiques, bold artworks, rattan furniture and plenty of teak set a tropical tone alongside such modern amenities as a wine fridge. All five ensuite sleeping quarters star mosquito-netted four-poster beds; the upstairs pair also share a rooftop deck facing those same rice fields, and primely positioned for sunrises.

Breakfast is provided daily, and Abaca’s chef can cook as many other meals – covering all cuisines and dietary preferences – as you need, or just lay on poolside cocktails. The estate includes shared ping-pong and foosball tables, plus a borrowable projector screen with Netflix, while Kabak has two massage beds should you want to hire a therapist. Your Villa Manager can arrange that, as well as temple trips, surf-school lessons, five-minute taxis to sandy beach clubs or reservations at great local restaurants. As you’ll quickly register, Petitenget is an especially cool corner of upmarket Seminyak.
